As we told you recently, there’s a new food cart splitting its time between Dumbo and Hudson Square called The Steel Cart.

The menu looked interesting, and we could not pass up something called a Bourgeois Pig, which costs $8.

You can add a mini-soup to any sandwich for $3.50, but we were splitting a soup and sandwich with someone else, so we got the full-size Vegetable Barley Soup for $6.

We took the day off work yesterday to get some things done around the house. At lunchtime, we headed out to see who was around the neighborhood, and wouldn’t you know it, there was a new cart on Varick and Vandam called The Steel Cart.

The logo is a beautiful chef’s knife, and the menu was hearty Euro-American fare. Our expectations were pretty high looking at this menu.

Wanting to try more than one item, and needing to bring lunch home for my wife too, we went for the Brown Cow for $8 and a Split Pea with Ham soup for $6.  You can add a mini-soup to any sandwich for $3.50, but splitting a large soup and sandwich worked out right for us.

With a chill still in the air, we needed something to warm up our insides for lunch.

It’s been a while since we’ve been to Gobuki. The last time we went there, udon noodle soup was not on the menu, and it’s always fun to try new menu items.

The udon noodle soup at Gobuki, on 52nd Street just west of 6th Ave, cost $7.

After being in Miami last week, we needed something to warm our insides for lunch yesterday. New York can be a cold place, but we still love it!

One of the best ways to warm your insides is with a hot noodle soup. Luckily, Bob & Jo came out with a new winter menu around Thanksgiving, and it includes ramen for $8 or a ramen & mandoo (dumpling) combo.

We decided to get the seafood ramen & mandoo combo for $10.

Street Eats: Ramen & Dumpling Combo from Bob & Jo

November 28th, 2012

You know winter is nearly here when street food vendors start changing over to their winter menus. That means one very important change – soup!

Bob & Jo, the Korean fusion food truck, tweeted to check out their new winter menu, but they didn’t say what it was.

When we arrived at the truck and saw the new menu, our hearts sang for joy. Ramen! Bob & Jo still had rice bowls, but instead of baguettes, there was ramen. It came with your choice of beef, chicken, pork or seafood, and each one costs $8.

We opted for the ramen & dumpling combination for $10, with beef bulgogi as the meat.
