As we told you last week, Taïm Mobile has been creating some new falafel flavors. We stopped by earlier this week to try their newest flavor…sun-dried tomato pesto falafel.

Your options are a falafel sandwich for $7 or a platter for $12.

Taïm is one of the tops in NYC when it comes to falafel, but how would their new falafel flavor stack up to the older ones?

Yesterday saw the unveiling of Taïm Mobile’s first new falafel flavor in quite some time – kale pesto.

In addition to Taïm’s great regular falafel, they rotate special falafel flavors like red pepper, harissa and green olive.

Now they are upping the ante even more with 4 new falafel flavors – and bringing out new soup specials too!

Street Eats: Corn Jalapeño Soup & Mixed Falafel from Taïm Mobile

You know the old adage about the 3 most important things in a food business: location, location & location.

Yesterday we were able to walk right up to Taïm Mobile at 1pm with no line. Why? Because there were 3 emergency vehicles there responding to a small fire in a building on the block. It didn’t seem to be too serious, but it was enough to keep people away from the window.

We’ve seen Taïm Mobile tweet about their corn jalapeño soup a few times, and this was perfect weather for giving it a try. But thick soup and a falafel sandwich seemed like too much to eat for lunch, even on a cold, damp day.

Solution: Corn jalapeño soup for $5 and a side order of 6 falafel for $4. Let’s see how that worked out. BTW, this is a good lunch for vegetarians too.

Street Eats: Sabich Sandwich from The Taïm Mobile, 2011 Vendy Awards Rookie Finalist

Anybody who has eaten lunch from The Taïm Mobile knows just how good their falafel is – good enough to be a  Vendy Award Finalist for Rookie of the Year in 2011.

One of our favorite specials at The Taïm Mobile is the sabich (suh-beech) sandwich for $6.75…but there’s not a speck of falafel in the sandwich.

Taïm is a Hebrew word that means “highly pleasant to the taste”, and it certainly applies to the sabich, which you can also get as a platter , which comes with 2 sides, for $11.
