STREET EATS: SHRIMP ROLL & NEW ENGLAND CLAM CHOWDER FROM LUKE’S LOBSTER

February 15th, 2012

The temperature was cold again, so I decided to hit up Luke’s Lobster for some clam chowder.  Since that wasn’t going to be enough for me for lunch, I also got a shrimp roll, which I’ve never tried from Luke’s.  I’ve had their lobster roll and crab roll before, which were both excellent, but not the shrimp roll yet.  That was about to change.

We’ve enjoyed most of the items on the Red Hook Lobster Truck menu, so we were really looking forward to one of the items we haven’t tried yet – the Lobster BLT ($10).

STREET EATS: SHRIMP & CHIPS FROM THE FISHING SHRIMP TRUCK

January 25th, 2012

The Fishing Shrimp truck is a fairly new food truck that I trucked out to Ditmas Park, Brooklyn when they first opened – but now they are coming into Manhattan a few times a week, making my life much easier.

I recently caught up with them and decided to get fried shrimp & chips for lunch, which costs $11.  Although I try to stay under $10 for lunch, I love seafood, and will spend more than $10 for fried shrimp, lobster rolls, or other dishes along these lines.

FISHING SHRIMP TRUCK EXPECTING TO BE IN MANHATTAN ON FRIDAYS

December 9th, 2011

We stopped by the Fishing Shrimp truck earlier today after they docked at 24th St & 5th Ave to say hi.  We also asked if they will be coming into Manhattan on a regular basis.

They told us they expect to be in Manhattan on Fridays going forward.  The rest of the week they are in the Ditmas Park section of Brooklyn, which is a hike unless you live in Brooklyn.

Fish on Fridays – where have I heard that before?

THE FISHING SHRIMP TRUCK HAS DROPPED ANCHOR IN MANHATTAN TODAY

December 9th, 2011

We just heard from our friends at the Fishing Shrimp truck, and they have landed in Manhattan today at 5th Ave & 24th St.

Early last month we trucked deep into Brooklyn to try their fish and shrimp (natch).  Today you only have to head to the Flatiron District.

You can check their twitter here, just in case they had to move at the last minute. The police have been pretty actively chasing food trucks this week.

Click through for more photos from our field trip to Brooklyn, as well as their menu.
