This fatty fish is one of my favorite fish, and not just because it’s delicious. Salmons is filled with all the critical nutrients that provide maximum health benefits. It doesn’t only provide nutrients but also helps in keeping some of the dangerous diseases at bay. But we’ll talk about these a bit later.
Let’s start with the most important topic.
How To Cook Salmon?
This is one of the foremost questions asked about cooking fish. A big portion of those who are looking to include a healthy and full nutrient diet in their food regime look for an answer to this question. Let me make it clear that there are numerous ways to cook salmon and get a delicious dish full of nutrients. The three most common and easiest ways to cook salmon dishes are as follows:
1. Grilled salmon
Grilled dishes are the most common of all, and when it comes to salmon, grilling is the best way to cook it. The first step would be to heat the grill to the maximum. Lightly season and oil the salmon fillets. You can season this with different herbs.
Put the salmon fillets onto a non-stick baking tray. Keep the skin side up and grill it for 3-5 minutes until the skin gets crispy. Flip and repeat the process for another 2-3 minutes as per your liking.
2. Poached Salmon
There’s another good answer to how to cook Salmon, and it’s poached. Many people prefer poached food over grilled, and salmon provides a different and unique taste when it gets poached.
When poaching your salmon, seasoning matters a lot. You can put a glass of wine and different soft herbs such as dill, black peppercorns, or coriander seeds. Add a pinch of salt and put the salmon in the deep-lidded pan.
Fill it with the correct amount of ingredients in order to get the right taste. Add one liter of water and boil it. Put the heat to simmer and add the salmon fillets. Cover the pan with a lid and wait for 10-15 minutes until the salmon gets thoroughly cooked.
3. Pan-fried salmon
Those who look for a minimal period of cooking can opt for this way of cooking salmon. You’ll need to medium heat a non-stick frying pan. Lightly oil and season the salmon fillets. Put the skin side down into the pans. Cook for 4-5 minutes until the skin gets crisp. Flip it to the other side and wait for 2-3 minutes.
4. Roasted Salmon
Roasting is one of the ways you can make your food a bit healthier. If you want to roast your salmon fillets, heat the oven to 200C/fan or 180C/gas. Season and add a little oil to the salmon fillets and wrap them with baking paper. Put the lined tray skin side up in the oven. Roast it for 12-15 minutes as per your taste until the skin side gets crispy.
How Long Does Cooked Salmon Last?
Keeping a cooked salmon has its perks and backdrops. However, those who want to opt for less time in the kitchen can cook the required quantity, eat a little and keep the rest for later. Cooked salmon can be kept for a few days, depending on cooking and seasoning.
If you’re cooking salmon with heavy oil contents, then you need to consume it quickly. Oils can be bad for food if kept over time. However, baked salmons can be kept for as long as 3-4 days if they are preserved carefully. Preservation includes proper packaging and putting the salmon in the refrigerator.
At a point, if you’re seasoning your salmon with different spices and other materials, then it needs to be consumed in a minimal period of time (1-2 days). Opt for raw seasoning to get maximum preservation time.
Does Salmon Go Bad if Kept for Long?
Any food items may go bad if they’re kept in a below-par environment. For example, if you keep Salmon on a plate without air-tight packaging, then don’t expect a tasty dish. It’s essential to use an air-tight container or packaged food-grade plastic to keep it fresh. Also, remember to keep your salmon in the fridge and not the freezer. Freezing the salmon to preserve it isn’t the right option as it will lead to frozen salmon, which is not good for eating.
Lastly, let’s delve into why we should eat more Salmon.
