I didn’t have much time today, so I headed nearby to Tacos Y Quesadillas Mexico on 9th Ave between 58th & 59th St. They are a cart serving solid Mexican food. I haven’t had a bad meal there yet, although lunch can sometimes get a little messy. They are also well-priced.
For Today’s Lunch, I ordered a pollo milanese torta, which cost $6.
A torta is a Mexican sandwich, and this one had a pounded, breaded chicken cutlet, lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, cheese and salsa verde.
The chicken cutlet was very thin, but it was dense, and held up to the other ingredients in the torta.
The jalapenos and salsa verde definitely made the sandwich spicy, but that’s what I like, so I was pretty happy. The lettuce, tomato and cheese cooled things down a bit and added different textures.
The bottom of the sandwich did start getting a little soggy towards the end of the meal, but it didn’t fall apart or anything like that.
Today’s Lunch of a pollo milanese torta from Tacos Y Quesadillas Mexico was a good, tasty sandwich. Where else can you get a pounded chicken cutlet sandwich for $6.
While I don’t expect them to win a Vendy Award, Tacos Y Quesadillas Mexico is a solid, regular part of my lunch routine, and perfect for when I don’t have a lot of time.
