HOW WAS OUR PASTOR TORTA AT MEXICO BLVD?

1625

We recently had a NYSF First Look at the tacos from Mexico Blvd, which were delicious.  Now I was in the mood for a sandwich, and Mexico Blvd has recently been tweeting about their tortas, so that’s what I decided to try – a Pastor Torta, which cost $8.  You can also get beef, chicken or adobo pork.

When I took the sandwich out of the bag and opened it up, an awesome smell came out of the wrapper.  Too bad the Internet doesn’t have Smell O-Vision because if it did, you would be drooling right about now.

The Mexican sandwich came on a soft Portuguese roll that had chunks of marinated pork, lettuce, tomato, onions, jalapeño spears and slices of pineapple.

All the ingredients were crisp and fresh, and the pork had a nick kick, having been marinated in a 3-chili sauce.  It wasn’t overly spicy, but between the pork and the jalapeño spears, there was some heat by the end of lunch.

There was also a bit of a mess by the end of lunch.  The bottom of the roll split apart, making it a little difficult to eat – but there are certainly worse problems to have.  I gladly ate the last few pieces of tender, tasty pork with my fingers.

Mexico Blvd is a welcome addition to the NY food truck scene.  They are still working out a few kinks in the truck, but we had a really nice Pastor Torta for lunch.  You can follow them on twitter here or on our Mobile Munchies twitter feed.

Try Mexico Blvd for yourself and let us know what you think.
