One way we can tell you about even more food trucks is by visiting them with friends or family. At the Santa Monica Food Truck Bazaar, our friend Bob tried Rice Balls of Fire, who feature Korean tacos, sliders and rice balls (natch).
Bob ordered two rice balls and a taco, and we asked him for his thoughts.
Before we get to Bob’s comments, we do have to tell you it took way too long for him to get food.
We ordered around the same time from different trucks, and we sat with our food for at least 10 minutes waiting for Bob to get his order.
Once he got the food, Bob said “as for the rice balls…too much rice and not enough meat, but the meat was succulent and the taste combination of seaweed paper wrapping and rice was delectable. The rice wasn’t sticky at all, and that’s quite a feat!”
He also tried a taco and enjoyed that even more.
“The taco was tasty! In the paradigm built by the Kogi truck, but still very good.”
It sure looks delicious to us, and they use two tortillas, which helps prevent breakage. That’s an important trait for street food, where you usually eat on your feet.
Rice Balls of Fire can be found on twitter here and their facebook is here. They don’t appear to have a website, but don’t let that stop you.
Thanks for the assist Bob. BTW, if you have any interest in the music business, Bob writes one of the best music industry columns around, The Lefsetz Letter. Not only does he opine from an insider’s perspective, but he also talks about tech, skiing, and sometimes just life in general. We heartily recommend it.
