A strange thing happened when we were out at lunch yesterday.
We saw The Original SoupMan Truck coming down Broadway, and it turned right on 55th St. Having worked in the area for years, we knew The Original SoupMan store was on 55th St by 8th Ave. As expected, the truck pulled over and parked in front of the store.
We introduced ourself and struck up a conversation with Marcus. He told us they were loading up the truck and heading to an Expo at the Javitz Center.
What we wanted to know was whether the truck was going to be serving on the NYC streets.
Marcus told us they didn’t currently have a permit, and they were running the numbers whether it made sense to go that route. We wondered why else would there be a SoupMan truck?
Then we got back to the office, and it all made sense.
In our email was a letter from The Original Soupman’s PR firm. It said:

Personally, we’re a bit skeptical, but we do love what they did for when the truck is closed. On the outside of the window it says “No Soup for You!”
