As we told you last week, Taim Mobile has been creating some new falafel flavors. We stopped by earlier this week to try their newest flavor…sun-dried tomato pesto falafel.

Your options are a falafel sandwich for $7 or a platter for $12.

Taim Mobile is one of the tops in NYC when it comes to falafel, but how would their new falafel flavor stack up to the older ones?

It was a cold, rainy day and we were feeling frugal, which meant the falafel sandwich for lunch instead of the platter. We just weren’t in the mood to spend $12 for lunch.

One good thing about a cold, rainy day is there was no line. On a nice day, you can expect a 10-15 minute wait for lunch, but we walked right up to the window and ordered. There were only two other people waiting for their lunch, and we had lunch in hand within a few minutes.

We all know the basics at Taim Mobile are excellent. The pita is warm and soft, the shredded cabbage and Israeli salad are fresh, and the hummus (tahini) is creamy and delicious.

There were 6 nice-sized falafel balls in the sandwich, which is a lot to fit into a pita without it breaking. But they did.

The sun-dried tomato taste of the falafel came through loud and clear. The pesto part of the equation…not so much.

If you like sun-dried tomatoes, you should enjoy the new falafel flavor at Taim Mobile. They generally rotate special falafel flavors each week, so you may have to wait a bit for this one to reappear.

You can find Taim Mobile on twitter here or on our Mobile Munchies twitter feed.

There may be cheaper falafel in NYC than Taïm Mobile, but you won’t find better.
