We haven’t been to Mexico Blvd in a while, so we stopped by Friday to check in and see how they were doing.
Our timing was good, because Jordi told us they were going to bring back a menu item they only had for a couple of days in the beginning – flautas.
When Mexico Blvd first came out, flautas were listed on the menu, but they couldn’t make it work at the time, with all the intricacies of starting a new food truck. The rolled tortillas have to be deep fried, and are more labor intensive than tacos or tortas.
Now that Mexico Blvd has been operating for a while and things are running smoothly, flautas are coming back, starting today! When they first opened, chicken, potato and bean flautas were available. We’re guessing it will be something similar now.
Since we’re currently in Europe this week for work, if you try the flautas, please let us know in the comments how they were. A photo or two would be great too. Email perry@newyorkstreetfood.com.
You can find Mexico Blvd on twitter here or on our Mobile Munchies twitter feed.
Since we can’t go to Mexico Blvd without ordering lunch, we also got a bistec torta on Friday, that you will read about within the next few days. With this trip, we haven’t had a chance to write it up yet.
