Ever seen the Seinfeld “No Soup For You” Food Truck? Well, we were tipped off earlier today by a tweet from @MilkTruckNYC about a Seinfeld Food Truck touring the country…and they’re coming to NYC too!
Considering the show is set in NY and Jerry grew up on Long Island, coming here was a no-brainer.
Click through for more details about when and where the truck will stop on it’s 6-city odyssey, as well as to hear about a personal Seinfeld connection we have.
Not a lot is posted on the Seinfeld facebook page, but it does say:
“The Seinfeld “No Soup For You” Food Truck has officially hit the road! We will be visiting six cities on our tour! Join us for free iconic Seinfeld food, treats, giveaways…and maybe even meet The Soup Nazi, Larry Thomas!”
The truck will be stopping off in:
7/23 – Albuquerque, NM
7/27 – Chicago, IL
7/30 – Philadelphia, PA
8/1 – New York, NY
8/3 – Boston, MA
8/5 – Baltimore, MD
As for our personal connection, it’s tenuous, but so what.
For many years, Jerry’s father had a sign business on Sunrise Highway in Massapequa called Kal Signfeld (note his creative spelling). Not having lived on Long Island for a long time, I’m not sure if the business is still there. Anyway, my brother worked at Kal Signfeld for a few summers during college, way before Seinfeld was on TV. Jerry was probably working clubs at the time, he wasn’t working at the sign shop, but this was well before he became a household name.
Brush with greatness? Not really, but a fun story to tell.
