TICKET-RELATED QUESTIONS

How much do tickets cost, how do I purchase a ticket, and can I pay cash?

Tickets are $40 per person. There is a “Buy Now” button at the bottom of this page.  If you prefer, you can email tours@newyorkstreetfood.com with the date you would like to attend, to make sure that date is available.  We will get back to you within 24 hours. Tickets are purchased via Paypal, which accepts most major credit cards. You do not need a Paypal account to purchase a ticket. You can use Paypal as a guest without setting up an account.

Do I need to purchase my ticket in advance?

Yes, advance ticket purchase is required. Since tours are only given on Friday afternoons during the summer, please book as far in advance as possible to increase your chances of getting the date you prefer.  There will only be 15 New York Street Food Walking Tours given this summer, so book early.

Will I need to show proof of my ticket purchase on the day of the tour?

We will have a list of confirmed guests, but please bring your receipt in case there are any problems or mix-ups.

What is included in my ticket price for the tour?

  • A brief history of street food in New York
  • At least 5 food tastings and a bottle of water
  • A map with local street food vendors in addition to the ones we will visit
  • Your tour guide, who is an expert on New York Street Food

What is the cancellation policy?

Since we only conduct one tour per week, and limit the number of people on the tour to 10, we cannot provide refunds that are cancelled within 4 weeks of the tour start time.  If you cancel more than 4 weeks in advance, there will be a cancellation charge of $20 per ticket.

Do you offer private tours for groups?

We are a small, specialized operation and cannot accommodate private tour groups.  However, if you email tours@newyorkstreetfood.com with details, we may be able to work something out.

WHO SHOULD TAKE THE TOUR?

Is the New York Street Food Walking Tour appropriate for New Yorkers as well as tourists?

The New York Street Food Walking Tour is fun, informative and enjoyable for New Yorkers and tourists alike.

For tourists, it offers the chance to experience New York City like a local.  It also offers a glimpse into the “melting pot” aspect of New York City, with most of the street vendors having immigrated to the USA from other countries.  The New York Street Food Walking Tour can also reduce the food budget for your trip by providing you with delicious places to eat that are significantly cheaper than New York City restaurants.

For New Yorkers, it provides an opportunity to experience a vibrant and exciting part of New York City life of which you may only know a little, or would like to learn more about.

Street food is becoming very popular for many reasons, and the tour will give you a place to begin your journey, as well as provide a path forward to explore this part of New York City life at your leisure.

If you love New York City, the New York Street Food Walking Tour is a way to do something different, tasty and fun with family, friends, or even on a date!

What should I wear?

Make sure you are wearing comfortable clothing, especially comfortable walking shoes!  Don’t carry anything heavy, and if it’s raining outside, please make sure to dress appropriately and bring an umbrella.  It shouldn’t be too cold, but if it is, please dress appropriately!

How far will we walk on the tour?

The tour will involve approximately 20-25 city blocks of walking, which is a little over one mile.  We will walk at a casual pace, but being New Yorkers, our natural tendency is to walk quickly.  If you would like us to slow down, please ask.

What about tips and gratuities?

Tips are never required.  The tour is run by the founder and owner of New York Street Food, who should not be tipped.  However, his assistant would probably appreciate a tip, if you think he did a good job.
