A couple of weeks ago, we told you about a new food truck parking on 21st St just west of 6th Ave run by a food truck veteran. Walking up to the window, we recognized the co-owner Nozz, who used to work on the Phil’s Steak truck.

Nozz wants to create a NY Style cheese steak, but also serve mac & cheese with various toppings.

For our First Look, we got a NY Style Cheese Steak (with pastrami mixed in). On this visit, we ordered mac and cheese with cheese steak meat on top. It also comes with a veggie topping, for which we selected mushrooms. All this cost $8.

After putting the meat and mushrooms on the mac & cheese, Nozz sprinkled panko bread crumbs and grated parmesan on top, then squirted chipotle mayo over it all.

The cheese steak meat on top was pretty good with the panko, grated cheese and chipotle mayo. The chipotle mayo wasn’t particularly spicy, but it did add some flavor.

Getting past the meat, the macaroni and cheese had a tasty sauce made with American, cheddar and Monterey jack cheeses. We’re not from Wisconsin, but we’re definitely a cheesehead!

The macaroni itself should have been cooked less time. It was softer than we prefer, but with all the cheese sauce and toppings, lunch was still enjoyable.

So far the New York Style Mac & Cheese Steak Truck has been parking on the NW corner of 21st St & 6th Ave, but we’re sure they will be moving around at some point.

The twitter and facebook links on their website aren’t live, but we will add the truck to our Mobile Munchies twitter feed as soon as it is.
