On Tuesday we told you about a new lobster truck in town, and yesterday at lunch we got to try it for the first time…at the URBAN LOBSTER SHACK.

The menu is a bit more varied than the other lobster trucks, with 5 different types of lobster rolls, clam chowder and french fries.  We also heard about some additional menu items that will be rolled out next week.

Click through to see what we ordered, how it was, what they expect to be rolling out next week, and most importantly, where you can find the Urban Lobster Shack…On Wheels

We originally wanted to try the Linsane Asian Lobster Roll, but they were sold out by the time we got there, about 1:10pm.  Our second choice, the Scampi Lobster Roll ($14) was available.  With the cold weather close to over, we also ordered New England clam chowder for $6.  It’s one of our favorite dishes at URBAN LOBSTER SHACK, and we don’t know how long it will be around for.

The scampi lobster roll was served on garlic bread, and it was topped with scampi sauce and some herbs.  There was thyme, possibly some chopped parsley and sage, a little celery, and definitely minced garlic!  The lobster was mostly shredded, with a few chunks in the mix.

If you like lobster in garlic butter, this will be right up your alley.  They didn’t skimp on the lobster meat, and it was light on the mayo, which you didn’t need with the garlic butter.  They were generous with the herbs too.  Man, this was tasty, especially on garlic bread!

On the menu of URBAN LOBSTER SHACK, it said that no thickeners were used in the clam chowder.  You certainly couldn’t tell from the soup, because my spoon easily stood upright without any problem.  It wasn’t the thickest clam chowder I’ve ever had, but it was certainly up there.

There were plenty of clams, potatoes and black pepper, and it was a nice sized serving for $6, comparable to a bowl, not a cup.  Of course the soup came with oysterette crackers.  If it didn’t, I would have been quite unhappy.

For their second day, the Urban Lobster Shack…On Wheels seemed to have their act together.  You can find them on twitter here or on our Mobile Munchies twitter feed.  If you get the scampi roll, make sure to buy Tic Tacs before heading back to the office.

We will certainly be back to try the Linsane Asian Lobster Roll, but are even more psyched about the fried clam strips roll.  The owner told me they expect to start serving that next week, along with a shrimp roll.  Can’t wait!
