We haven’t seen the Urban Lobster Shack around lately. We weren’t sure if they were out of business, taking some time off, or just quiet on the tweets. Turns out it was the latter.

The latest hot spot for food trucks is 47th St between Park & Madison, with some spillover on Vanderbilt Ave and on the east side of Park Ave. Some days there are 5 food trucks on that block, with 2-3 more spotted in the surrounding area. That’s a nice choice for lunch.

Walking up to the Urban Lobster Shack truck, there were 2 specials in addition to the regular menu. They had a West Coast Roll Lobster Roll with avocado & tomato dressing, and Lobster Fra Diavolo, with a spicy marinara sauce. Both were $14, and we got the spicy one!

One of the newer food trucks in town is the Urban Lobster Shack…On Wheels.  It’s an offshoot of the Urban Lobster Shack, a tiny storefront with locations in the basement of 805 Third Ave (bet 49-50 St) and at 15 Stone St (bet Bdwy & Broad St).

The menu is a bit more varied than the other lobster trucks, with 5 different types of lobster rolls, clam chowder and french fries.  They also started rolling out a couple of new specials this week such as a fried clam strip roll and shrimp & lobster bisque.

We’ve been getting caught up in Rangers and Knicks playoff fever, so we went for a Linsane Asian Lobster Roll for $14.  It  It was still a little chilly out, and the shrimp & lobster bisque special for $6 looked good too.

On Tuesday we told you about a new lobster truck in town, and yesterday at lunch we got to try it for the first time.

The menu is a bit more varied than the other lobster trucks, with 5 different types of lobster rolls, clam chowder and french fries.  We also heard about some additional menu items that will be rolled out next week.

And then there were three…

While were traveling back from Florida yesterday, a new lobster truck was announced on Midtown Lunch, and we received a press release this morning from them in our inbox.

The Urban Lobster Shack, a tiny storefront with locations in the basement of 805 Third Ave (bet 49-50 St) and at 15 Stone St (bet Bdwy & Broad St), will be launching a new food truck this week.
