NEW VENDY AWARDS 2011 CATEGORY: BEST OF NEW JERSEY

September 13th, 2011

Homemade lamb kefta sandwich from Two Pitas In A Pod

The Vendy Awards has added another new category for 2011 besides the Hero’s Award – The Best of NJ.

We’ve had a New Jersey section on New York Street Food for quite some time, because Northern NJ is as much a part of NYC as Queens or Staten Island – and they have great street food vendors!

We must say, the Vendy Awards did their homework.  All the NJ nominees are excellent.  In alphabetical order, the Best of NJ nominees are: (more…)

July 6th, 2011

How would you like your taco recipe featured on The Taco Truck menu?  Sounds great, doesn’t it?

The Taco Truck will select the 3 finalists, but we the people will vote on the winner.  Click through for more details.

NEW FOOD TRUCK GATHERING FOR DINNER EVERY WED. DURING THE SUMMER

May 24th, 2011

Updated Below

We heard from the guys at Two Pitas In A Pod about a new food truck gathering on Wednesday evenings during the summer at the Grove St PATH station in Jersey City.

Starting this Wed. and every Wed. (weather permitting), The Taco Truck, Lucinda’s Creperie, and La Bella Torte will be joining Two Pitas for 4 x the usual food truck awesomeness!  For those of you in NYC near a PATH station, the Grove St station is only 2 stops into NJ, which is an easy round trip.

The Taco Truck will not be there this week due to a prior Red Bulls commitment, but the others will be, and all the trucks will be there every Wed. through September.

We told you about the Din-Din-A-Go-Go’s we went to in L.A.  Good to see someone is trying to put something similar together in our area.

Update

The Two Pitas guys sent us some clarifying information. The Wednesday Jersey City event is called Groove on Grove and has been going on for years without food trucks. There is music, some other vendors, cool things like bike trick demos, etc.  These folks have been plugging away for years trying to make a nice community event for the locals.

This year the food trucks have been a welcome addition, and in a sense it is a mini food truck festival on a weekly basis, but at the end of the day it is an older event that now has some serious food truck presence as a part of it.

The same organization does a farmers market at the same location every Mon & Thursday from June-November and we are one of two food trucks that are going to be there on Thursdays now also. So it’s a lot more than just food trucks.

TRY THE TACO TRUCK’S NEW TACO – LOS TOROS ROJOS (THE RED BULLS)

May 9th, 2011

As we recently told you, The Taco Truck is now the Official Taco of the NY Red Bulls of Major League Soccer.  Tonight, The Taco Truck is having a special event at their storefront at 62 Newark St with three NY Red Bulls players.

Austin da Luz, Teemu Tainio and Tim Ream will be at the store from 6-9pm tonight taking photos, signing autographs and making tacos!

As part of their ongoing partnership with the NY Red Bulls, The Taco Truck has created a new taco called Los Toros Rojos (the red bulls, for the Spanish-challenged among us).  It has carne asada in a chipotle meco sauce with cilantro, radish and crema.

Sounds great!  We can’t wait to try it.

THE TACO TRUCK AND NY RED BULLS FORGE A PARTNERSHIP

March 22nd, 2011

TTT_Red Bulls

The Taco Truck, in our opinion, one of the best taco trucks in the New York area, has announced a partnership with Major League Soccer’s New York Red Bulls and the new Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ.  The Taco Truck will be the “Official Taco Of The New York Red Bulls”.

TTT will be serving their excellent, authentic Mexican street food in the arena’s Fan Zone, and will have some signage in and around the arena as well.

This seems like a perfect fit for The Taco Truck, which was inspired by the taquerias and food trucks of Mexico.  They even took a trip to Mexico a while back for some “research”.  What we want to know is, how do you sign up for this type of research?
