Years ago when we first started learning about Elvis Presley, we heard about 1) the music 2) the Ed Sullivan Show where he was only allowed to be filmed from the waist up, and 3) his favorite comfort food, a grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich.

Munchie Mobile has their own version with a couple of additions. We’re not sure if these additions were on Elvis’ sandwiches, or if they are taking artistic license, but one thing’s for sure – it looked crazy good!

The Elvis cost $7.50 at the Munchie Mobile.

Street Eats: Smokehouse Chicken Sandwich & Jalapeño Poppers from Munchie Mobile

November 13th, 2012

Things were really busy at work recently and we had to stay close by for lunch. Luckily the Munchie Mobile was around the corner.

We’ve had really good burgers and onion rings at Munchie Mobile, but one thing we haven’t tried yet are their chicken sandwiches. We also haven’t tried their fries yet.

There are several chicken sandwiches available, both grilled and fried. We went for the Smokehouse, which cost $8.

Side orders were a little trickier. They were out of fries, so we ordered mozzarella sticks. About 5 minutes after ordering the sticks, we were told they were out of those. Well, what did they have left? “How about jalapeño poppers?” OK.

Street Eats: Spicy Tuna Melt & Onion Rings from Munchie Mobile

August 13th, 2012

Following a food truck’s Twitter account can give you more than just their location. Last week the Munchie Mobile tweeted “TUNA TUESDAYs! $5 Tuna Meltdowns if you show us this tweet!!!”

It’s been a while since we had that staple of the American lunch diet, a tuna melt.  And with a $5 tuna melt, we had room in our wallet for $4 onion rings.

Burger Week Day 3: El Chupacabra & Fried Oreos from the Munchie Mobile

June 20th, 2012

For the 3rd installment of NYSF Burger Week, we went for a burger with a Latin twist, El Chupacabra.  This was nothing at all like the other burgers we’ve had this week, which is the whole point of Burger Week – highlighting the vast variety of burgers that can be had on NYC streets.

You’re gonna want to stick around to the end of this review though, because while El Chupacabra was good, those Fried Oreos were out of this world!

Street Eats: Burgers from the Munchie Mobile

Another new food truck hit the NYC streets recently called the Munchie Mobile.  It’s owned and run by 3 NYU students, one of whom worked on two other food trucks that I’m sure you’ve heard of.

You know the truck is geared for students when there’s Red Bull on the drink menu, but you don’t have to be a college student to enjoy their food.

They have 1/3 lb burgers, half a dozen different grilled cheese sandwiches, 5 types of pancake dishes (all day) and a few other sandwiches that defy categorization – other than they are all great munchies.  We had a Kiss of the Dragon on our 1st visit.

The entire menu looked good, but now it was time to try a burger.  Their lunches  are too large to get more than one item, but luckily I met my brother at the truck, so I got The Magician for $8, he got a Bleu Dream for $7.50, and we split them.
