Spring is most definitely here. In the country, things are turning green, and in the city, things are turning green too, with the Itizy Ice Cream truck back on the street. (It’s more like turquoise, but let’s not quibble.)

Spring is the time for rebirth, and that includes a number of new menu items from Itizy. In addition to new ice cream and sorbet flavors, they now have a small waffle iron for making waffle cones on the spot. Below Ann shows off the waffle iron with her best Vanna White impersonation. I’d like to buy an “I” please.

Yesterday we saw the following tweet from our friends at Itizy Ice Cream, who the sharp-eyed NYSF reader @Moneymaus tipped us off to last summer.

Itizy Ice CreamItizy Ice Cream Getting prepped for a new fantastic season! Check out our new website and flavors. Kicking off the season tomorrow @ Columbia :)

Turns out the tweet was a little off base. Another NYSF reader @Out4LunchBlog saw them by Columbia University yesterday and sent us the photo below of their Cookies & Cream flavor. How did they know Cookies & Cream is one of our favorite flavors?

Itizy has a bunch of new flavors this year, and some interesting way to deliver them, such as ice cream pops.

Click through to see what some of their new flavors are.

NYSF First Look: Itizy Ice Cream

July 6th, 2012

About 2 weeks ago @Moneymaus sent us the following tweet: “@nystfood just passed this new-to-me truck on 51st b/w 6&7, itizy. didn’t have time check it out. do you know it?”  They also sent the above photo of the truck.

Earlier this week, we had a chance to visit Itizy on that same block.  It was after the lunch rush, so we had a chance to chat with Ken and Ann, the couple behind Itizy.

If you like your ice cream au naturel (without any artificial colors, flavors or preservatives), and want to support a good cause at the same time, Itizy is the place to go.

Click through for a First Look at Itizy Ice Cream, find out what Itizy means and how to pronounce it, and get the story behind that beautiful blue color of the truck.
