Hibachi Heaven first hit the NYC streets last June, and things are obviously going well. Not only did they add a 2nd truck in January, but they added a 3rd truck this month. Talk about going from 0 to 60 in no time.

This would be big news by itself, but Nick also told us about a possible international expansion he is working on that would be craaazy! We will let you know as soon as Nick gives us the green light.

As for yesterday’s lunch, we haven’t tried HH’s tofu yet, so that was what we got. It’s the least expensive item on the menu at $7.

If you enjoy hibachi-style food, we have some good news for you.

Hibachi Heaven has opened a 2nd food truck, and it hit the street yesterday!

Their 1st truck came onto the street in June 2012, so it looks like less than 6 months was enough time for them to figure out whether there were enough customers to expand the operation.

Good luck to Nick and the gang at HH, and now HH2. We’ll be stopping by to check out the new truck.

You can find them on twitter here or on our Mobile Munchies twitter feed.

Street Eats: Hibachi Beef & Chicken from Hibachi Heaven

July 11th, 2012

One of the newer food trucks in the city is Hibachi Heaven.  As you can probably guess, they serve Japanese hibachi-style food, although without the theatrics associated with those restaurants.  You’re not going to see these guys tossing shrimp tails into their shirt pockets or onto their toques.

What you will see is well-prepared hibachi-style food at a reasonable price.

Menu options are beef, chicken, shrimp or tofu with veggies, fried or brown rice, and one of three sauces.  You can get it in a bowl or in a wrap.  It’s not a big menu, but I would rather have a truck do one type of cooking right than try to do too much.  The full menu is here.

NYSF First Look: Hibachi Heaven

June 18th, 2012

About a month ago, we told you about a new food truck that was coming out soon, and had a Japanese hibachi-style cuisine.  Well, Hibachi Heaven debuted last week, and we stopped by for a NYSF First Look.

We arrived at 1:15 and there were about 15 people either on line or waiting for their order.  At 1:30, we had our lunch in hand.  For it only being their 2nd or 3rd day, that’s pretty good.

We ordered a shrimp bowl with Heavenly Ginger Sauce, which cost $9. We also got fried rice instead of brown.  The full menu is below.
