WFC PLAZA FOOD KIOSKS & GREENMARKET TO OPEN TOMORROW (4/7)

April 6th, 2011

Ed's Lobster Bar

The World Financial Center is kicking off the spring season with the return of its food kiosks and the opening of a Greenmarket on Thursday, April 7th.

Food kiosks from Ed’s Lobster Bar and Quality Burger will be back again, and a new Fatty Cue food kiosk will be opening within the next few weeks.  Click here for Ed’s Lobster Bar menu and here for the Quality Burger menu.  We hear that Quality Burger will also be giving away free samples tomorrow.

All food kiosks will open daily at 11am for lunch and dinner, and they will be open through October 31st.

The Greenmarket will be open every Thursday from 11am to 7pm, and will have a season that extends through mid-December.  Participating Greenmarket vendors include: Migliorelli Farm, Red Jacket Orchard, Not Just Rugelach, Meredith’s Bread, Stony Mountain Ranch, MK Orchid Farm, Cranberry Creek Farm, Newgate Farms and Castello di Borghese Vineyard.

Both the Greenmarket and food kiosks are at the World Financial Center Plaza in Battery Park City, just outside the Winter Garden atrium fronting the Hudson River.

FOOD NETWORK CANADA IN TOWN FILMING

July 14th, 2010

The scene at Schnitzel & Things

A couple of months ago, we were contacted by Paperny Films, a Vancouver based company producing a show for Food Network Canada called Eat St.  They were looking for experts and opinions about the best street food in New York City and wanted our thoughts.

New York Street Food (and a bunch of other people) gave them opinions, and this week, they are here filming.  We understand the street food vendors being filmed are Schnitzel & Things, Biryani Cart, Ed’s Lobster Bar Kiosk and the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck.

Paperny will be filming Schnitzel & Things today (Wed) on Park Ave between 26th & 27th St between 11:30 and 2:00.  Everyone who can should head down there to support Oleg and company, and at the same time, eat some wonderful schnitzel (and possibly be on Canadian TV).

On Friday, Paperny will be filming the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck on Broadway & 17th St from 1-3pm, and yours truly will be the “street food expert” being interviewed for the show.  Come on down Friday to Union Square to show your support for Doug & Bryan, and to enjoy some amazing ice cream.  It’s supposed to be in the mid-90′s Friday, so I’m glad I pulled ice cream duty.

ED’S LOBSTER BAR KIOSK OPENS DOWNTOWN

May 31st, 2010

edslobsterroll

Ed’s Lobster Bar recently opened a kiosk in front of 2 World Financial Center on Vesey Street.  It will be open daily from 11:30am until dark, except when it rains, through October.

Ed McFarland told Grub Street he’ll serve a couple of items currently available at his Lafayette St spot – the $27 lobster roll, which will also be available with half the meat at $15, and a sautéed soft-shell crab on ciabatta bread, with tartar sauce, lettuce, tomato, and red onion.  Sandwiches will start at $6 and there’ll be a couple of new ones, too — a tuna salad and a grilled shrimp po’ boy.
