January 6th, 2012

Back in October, we told you about Eat St. asking for video submissions from vendors to be on their program.  The response has been excellent, and now it’s time for you to vote for your favorites.

Click through to find out which vendors submitted videos and how to vote for them.  There are a few local vendors, so make sure to support our hometown favorites.

DON’T MISS THE SIMPSONS FOODIE EPISODE ON SUNDAY

November 11th, 2011

Don’t have a Black Angus cow man!

This Sunday the Simpsons takes on foodie culture, including celebrity chefs, food bloggers, molecular gastronomy, cooking competitions and more.  Even though we’re a part of this world, it is ripe for skewering.

South Park had a food episode not too long ago that you can watch here, and the Upright Citizens Brigade has a new show called Pig: A Restaurant that takes on our food-obsessed culture.

We guess the proverbial shark hath officially been jumped.

Grub Street had an interesting interview with Simpsons Executive Producer Matt Selman, which you can read here.

So far we’re safe.  The titans of pop culture haven’t gotten around to satirizing food trucks yet – but it’s only a matter of time.

FREE COFFEE TODAY FROM HELL ON WHEELS

November 1st, 2011

On my way to the 1 train this morning, I did a double-take.  Across Hudson St was a covered wagon giving out free coffee.

They were promoting the new Western series on AMC called Hell On Wheels that premieres this Sun, Nov 6th.  The tagline for the series is “Blood Will Be Spilled. Lives Will Be Lost. Men Will Be Ruined.”  Sounds serious.

There weren’t any vittles or grub, but free coffee is free coffee.  I was told they will probably be there until about 1pm or so.

If you’re interested, below is AMC’s First Look at Hell On Wheels.

EAT ST. ANNOUNCES VENDOR VIDEO CONTEST

October 25th, 2011

We received an email from Eat St. telling us about their first ever Vendor Video Contest. Vendors can win a chance to be filmed for an Eat St segment, with a little help from their friends.

Eat St. is encouraging street food vendors to submit a short video of their cart or truck in the Eat St. Video Contest!  Just tell them a little bit about your cart or truck and your food to enter the contest, then let your fans and customers vote your way to glory.

No video equipment? No problem. Take a quick video clip with your phone.  Videos are all about the content, not the video quality.

To enter the contest…

SEASON 2 OF EAT STREET TO AIR IN OCTOBER IN THE US

September 23rd, 2011

With Eat St. in town this week to film 4 NYC food trucks (Uncle Gussy’s, Comme Ci, Comme Ca, Gorilla Cheese and Papa Perrone’s) for possible inclusion in Season 3 of the show, I received a question from G, who thought we were only up to Season 2.

To answer G, Eat St. is originally filmed for Food Network Canada, and it airs here a couple of months after it airs in Canada.  Season 2 of Eat St. is already up to Week 4 in Canada, but the US premiere is not until October 11th.
