MORE STREET ART TO GO WITH YOUR STREET FOOD – LA/PARIS EDITION

March 29th, 2012

Every once in a while, we like to feature street art as well as street food.  That way you can nourish your soul and your body at the same time.

We recently ran across an article from Molly Tuttle entitled “Finally Seeing Street Art” that originally appeared in Imprint, and we later read in Salon.

She talks about not really noticing street art until a trip to Paris on Fall 2009, and subsequently moving to L.A. a few months later.

There are some great street art photos in the article.  The ones in L.A. have a distinct Hollywood sensibility, and the ones in Paris are quite playful.

Click here to check out the full article, with lots of fun and interesting street art photos to peruse.

INTERESTING, PROVOCATIVE AND JUST PLAIN COOL STREET ART

November 3rd, 2011

Every now and then, we like to show you some great street art to go along with your street food.

Street art and street food have some things in common.  Both have very talented artists working in the field.  Both have outside-the-box thinkers making great food – and food for thought.  And both are comprised of guerillas who work outside the mainstream establishment.

Street art, like the sign above, can be used to foment change, which is something we desperately need right now.

Or street art, like the one below, can just make you smile.  And that’s enough for some days.

All of these images and more come from Street Art Utopia.

A STREET ART ENGAGEMENT VIDEO

March 7th, 2011

Flavorwire, one of our favorite New York-related sites, posted a video of guy who got really creative in proposing to his girlfriend.

From Flavorwire: “Aaron Vandenbroucke collaborated with multiple artists to create a secret street art “tour” for his girlfriend that ended at a final piece where he popped the big question.  Each work of art along the way was symbolic of a moment in their relationship. Adorable. Click through and prepare to have your icy cold heart melt into a puddle of total mush.”

Yes, we know this has nothing to do with street food, but we have posted a bunch of articles about street art, and this was a nice way to start the week.

STREET ART TO ENJOY WITH YOUR STREET FOOD

March 2nd, 2011
Keith Haring

Banksy didn’t win an Oscar Sunday night, but you can still enjoy his street art, as well as other street artists, with Street Art View.

We like street art almost as much as street food, so when Flavorwire told us about a mash-up of street art with Google street view, we were intrigued.

Street Art View is a project that collects and maps images of street art collected around the world on Google street view.  A collaboration between Red Bull and the Brazilian ad agency Loducca, it includes photos from around the world.

Although many come from Brazil, the U.S. and Europe are also well-represented, as are top street artists such as Banksy, Blu, Keith Haring, Os Gemeos and others.

We couldn’t make it out for lunch today, so here’s some cool street art to enjoy with your street food.

From Flavorwire: If there’s one thing that is as fleeting as celebrity is, it’s street art. Which is why they thought it would be interesting to look at the intersection of the two. Click here to find 50 of their favorite street art odes to some of pop culture’s biggest icons — from Muhammad Ali to Betty White.
