We had to go up to Boston this weekend for our son’s graduation, so we asked one of our regular readers to cover the Great Googa Mooga for us. After last year’s fiasco, we weren’t sure what to expect, but Joe B, a Brit currently living and working in NYC, seemed to have a good time.

Without further ado, here are a couple of Joe B’s culinary experiences at the Great Googa Mooga 2013:

NYSF Guest Post: Lumpy’s Food Truck by Jeff Harper

October 10th, 2012

We were recently contacted by Jeff Harper, who told us about Lumpy’s Food Truck on Long Island. Jeff asked if he could write about Lumpy’s for a NYSF Guest Post.

Having grown up on Long Island many moons ago, we said sure. With a name like Lumpy’s, our interest was piqued. Also, when did you ever seen a food truck with a bathroom!

Click through to read Jeff’s review of Lumpy’s Food Truck. It sounds delicious.

NYSF Guest Post: Tariq’s #1 Halal Food Cart by JR

July 11th, 2012

We always like to hear about good street food from readers who love it as much as we do. If there is a street vendor you think goes above and beyond the usual street fare, let us know about it. We might even ask you to write a Guest Post, as we did with JR.

JR emailed us a few days ago about a cart that he really likes near his office that’s on the NW corner of Park Ave South & 19th St. It looks just like another generic cart from the outside, but the tip-off is the sign taped to the front of the cart with Daily Specials like shrimp biryani, chicken tikka masala and kati rolls. That means the cart is Indian cuisine as opposed to the usual halal carts. (Update: There is now a sign that says Tariq’s #1 Halal Food)

Without further ado, here is JR’s review of Tariq’s cart, along with some good-looking photos he took.

NYSF Guest Post: Melissa Rodriguez at the Great Googa Mooga

May 22nd, 2012

A few months ago, we got tickets for the Great Googa Mooga, then found out we had to be in MA for a family event.  We had a contest to give away the tickets, and Melissa Rodriguez won our NYSF contest for 2 tickets.  Melissa agreed to take some photos and write up her experience at Googa Mooga for us.

The initial reports on Saturday were terrible, with huge lines and lots of vendors running out of food.  Would Sunday be better?   Click through for Melissa’s write-up, and some photos of her experience at the event.
