As part of our celebration of Grilled Cheese Month, we stopped by the Morris Truck to see what they’ve been up to lately.

One of the things we like about the Morris Truck is they are always changing up the menu. You never know what you’re going to get, and their ingredients are often seasonal.

On this trip, we were tempted by the morcilla sausage and raclette cheese sandwich, which cost $10. This was the highest priced item on the menu, but homemade morcilla sausage sounded too good to pass up.

Street Eats: Matzoh Melt Special from Gorilla Cheese NYC

You don’t see a lot of street food vendors catering to customers for Passover. First of all, many street cart vendors are Arabs. Even though they are in New York, we don’t expect to see them serving matzoh sandwiches during Passover.

The Jewish vendors like Taim and Pocketful are closed for the duration of the holiday, but Gorilla Cheese came up with a different approach – matzoh melts! Today may be the last day of Passover, so you still have one more day to enjoy them.

Walking up to the truck on Friday, there were handwritten signs for the weekly special, and a sign that any sandwich on the menu can be made into a matzoh melt.

We went for this week’s special – Swiss and muenster cheese, caramelized onions, tomato, chipotle aioli and…wait for it…bacon!

Now we can be observant and subversive at the same time. Somewhere underground, our ancestors are rolling in their graves.

As we’ve said before, our Mobile Munchies twitter feed is great for finding out Daily Specials on food trucks. In this case, it was the tweet from  Gorilla Cheese NYC that caught our eye.

We like muenster cheese a lot, and decided to go for the Veggie Melt for $7. You can also get it as a combo with tater tots and a drink for $9.

The other day when we didn’t find the Trini-Paki Boys cart on West 43rd St, we headed over to the NYPL for Food Trucks On Fifth.

It turned out that Milk Truck was there, and they had a nice looking special, the Blue Ribbon Sandwich, which cost $8.
