Back in October, we told you about Eat St. asking for video submissions from vendors to be on their program. The response has been excellent, and now it’s time for you to vote for your favorites.

Click through to find out which vendors submitted videos and how to vote for them. There are a few local vendors, so make sure to support our hometown favorites.

T H E P R I Z E

What will your support mean for a lucky, hard working street food vendor? The winning video may appear on TV and/or on the Eat St. website and will be given to the winner to use and distribute as they please (think: free professional video for advertising purposes!). The five videos with the highest number of votes from fans will win the Fan Favorite award and will be eligible to win the grand prize – an Eat St. segment starring their cart!

V O T I N G

Cast your votes from Jan. 5 to Jan. 31, 2012 for the vendor you would most like to see on the television show. You can vote once per day! Just be sure to register for an account on the contest website in order to cast your vote (this ensures your privacy and eliminates spam). Voting opened yesterday, January 5th. In the meantime, you can check out the awesome videos submitted and register to vote at http://memelabs.com/eat-st/

T H E T R U C K S

“The secret to creating something memorable is often as simple as pairing unexpected flavors that really hit it off,” says Dave Hirschkop, owner of Dave’s Gourmet (www.davesgourmet.com), maker of award-winning sauces.

“It doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated,” he says. “If you mate ingredients that have chemistry, you’ll blow your guests away.”

If you’ve already created that blow-em-away recipe – the sauce that’s the hit at every gathering – it could win you up to $1million in royalties in Dave’s Gourmet Recipe Challenge.

Dave’s Gourmet is looking for a winner to add to its product line, and guess who’ll get the royalties for six years? That’s right – you. Up to $1 million. Hey, it’s only fair if your name’s on the label.

Payday starts immediately with a $2,000 advance.

Just submit for your original recipe for a sauce, salsa or dip by Dec. 31 at www.davesgourmet.com. Dave’s team will test the recipes and choose semifinalists, who’ll be taste-tested by a Dave’s Gourmet panel. Finalists will be notified Jan. 12-14. The winner (or winners) will be chosen by food professionals attending the Fancy Foods Show in San Francisco. They’ll be notified Jan. 18.

Isn’t it about time your killer sauce paid off? Dave thinks it is.

The contestants for Season 2 of The Great Food Truck Race have been announced, and Korilla BBQ is representing the Big Apple this year. The Season 2 premiere is Sunday, Aug. 14th at 10pm on the Food Network. There are 8 food trucks competing for the $100,000 Grand Prize. Click through to meet the contestants, and to find out how you can win a trip worth $5,000 to the NYC Wine & Food Festival.

New York Street Food readers will be familiar with Korilla BBQ, who we’ve been talking about since going to their Launch Party last October, and have become quite friendly with over the last 9 months.

The other 7 contestants are Cafe Con Leche from L.A., Devilicious Food Truck from San Diego, Hodge Podge from Cleveland, Roxy’s Grilled Cheese from Boston, Seabird’s Food Truck from Costs Mesa (CA), Sky’s Gourmet Tacos from L.A. and The Lime Truck from Irvine, CA. You can read more about them here.

We’re sure all the contestants are great, but with a horse in this race, we’re rooting for our home town buds, Korilla BBQ.

NYSF with Eddie from Korilla BBQ at their Launch Party

With filming already done for Season 2 and the contestants sworn to secrecy, The Great Food Truck Race is already looking for contestants for Season 3.

You can win a trip worth $5,000 to the NYC Wine & Food Festival by nominating your favorite food truck here. You need to nominate them by August 5th, and then starting August 14th, vote for your favorite food truck and receive an entry into the sweepstakes for this great trip. You can vote once per day, and each vote gives you an entry into the sweepstakes.

Let’s try to nominate at least one more NYC truck for Season 3 of The Great Food Truck Race. There are way too many West Coast trucks in Season 2.

As we previously mentioned, Kelvin Natural Slush, Don Q Rum and the Classic Car Club of Manhattan are throwing a “Prohibition Style” Kelvin Slush Happy Hour tomorrow evening, and they were kind enough to provide us with some tickets to this exclusive event for a few lucky New York Street Food readers.

All you had to do to win was to come up with your best “Prohibition Style” drink using the ingredients available from Kelvin Slush and Don Q Rum. We have a little twist in the final winners, so click through to check out some fun and interesting recipes, as well as meet the contest winners.

Kelvin Slush and the Classic Car Club just told us that we could offer tickets to 4 winners and their guests from New York Street Food instead of the original 2 winners that we expected!

Congratulations to Leighann, Tati, 831 Tobias and Bob Jones. You and your guests will be attending the Kelvin Slush/Don Q Rum “Prohibition Style” Happy Hour tomorrow evening from 7-9pm. I will send you an email with additional details.

Below are some great drink recipes. You might even want to try making them at home. Congratulations again to all the winners!

Kelvin Punch by Leighann

Perhaps it has something to do with the stifling heat of this summer or my impending first trip to Tales of The Cocktail, but I’ve been super into punch recipes lately. That being said, my Kelvin cocktail is a simplified adaptation of Fish House Punch, minus the cognac, of course! The base will be the refreshingly delicious Tangy Citrus slush, combined with the White Peach fruit puree mix-in, combined with DonQ Anejo. The citrus and white peach mimic the peach schnapps and fresh lime juice in the original recipe, and DonQ Anejo supplies the fine flavor profile of an aged rum.

La Cuba Mia by Tati

-Spicy Ginger
-Pink Guava
-Mint
-Don Q Mojito Rum

What better to represent the mystery, passion, and heat of a summertime Prohibition party than a Mojito inspired cocktail? It may not be traditional to the era but breaking some rules should be part of the fun, especially when it tastes so good ; )

Sipping the Pink by Gia

The drink’s name is a nod to little-known band from the ’80s called Kissing the Pink with a great little song called “Big Man Restless” and the drink itself is a play on a dark & stormy Mix Kelvin’s Spicy Ginger flavor with some mango puree and a touch of passion fruit Don Q. A sip of this and you’ll feel anything but restless!

Peach Passion (Mojito) by Tobias831

Summer is the time for light, sweet, …and lots of flavor/ color.

So I think my Prohibition Mix is just the thing to keep you cool during this blazing heat.

Peach Passion (Mojito)

Tangy Citrus
Blood Orange
White Peach
Fresh Mint (Muddled)
Don Q Pasión Rum

This drink is also inspired by the mojito, but with a lot more color.
