TODAY’S LUNCH: BLACK & BLUE BURGER COMBO FROM THE FRYING DUTCHMEN

October 24th, 2011

With The Frying Dutchmen installing a new grill in their truck last week, they are now serving burgers and grilled chicken sandwiches in addition to french fries, chicken tenders and chicken wings.

As I usually do with new menus or trucks, I asked what they recommended, and the answer was the interestingly-named Black & Blue Burger ($7).  I love blue cheese, but the connotation of black and blue is a little odd when eating lunch.  You can see The Frying Dutchmen’s new burger menu here and new chicken menu here.

The Frying Dutchmen also lets you upgrade any burger to a combo for $4 more, which includes a medium-sized cone of regular or sweet potato fries, a dipping sauce and a drink.  That’s what I did for Today’s Lunch, which cost $11.

THE FRYING DUTCHMEN ARE GRILLING NOW TOO

October 20th, 2011

A few weeks ago, we heard that The Frying Dutchmen were installing a grill in the truck in order to expand their menu.  Well, the time has come.

Today they will have a burger on the menu, and they will gradually be adding more burgers and possibly other items (grilled chicken?) to the menu.

Ben told me they want to make sure everything is done right, so they are taking it slow at first.

The Frying Dutchmen will be at Varick & King today.

TODAY’S LUNCH: LAMB BURGER FROM BISTRO TRUCK

October 19th, 2011

I’ve been to Bistro Truck plenty of times, but never tried their lamb burger.  A couple of months ago, in order to stand out a bit from other food trucks serving burgers, Yassir switched from a beef burger to a lamb burger.

Lamb is generally more expensive than beef, but Today’s Lunch of a lamb burger from Bistro Truck was only $7.

TODAY’S LUNCH: BURGER & CURLY FRIES FROM WALL ST BURGERS

September 13th, 2011

I stopped by the fairly new Wall St Burgers truck today to try a burger.  They have been around since mid-June, but have spent a lot of days parked way uptown by the CUNY campus.  They now seem to be coming down to the middle and lower part of Manhattan more frequently.

On our First Look, we enjoyed a salmon burger, but have not had a chance to try a regular cheeseburger.

Today’s Lunch is a Wall St Burger combo ($10) from Wall St Burgers, which includes a cheeseburger, curly fries and a drink.

FARM BURGER FROM THE KATCHKIE TRUCK

August 29th, 2011

A relatively new addition to the New York Street Food scene is the Katchkie Truck.  I’ve only eaten there once, a few weeks ago, but their pulled bbq chicken sandwich was phenomenal!

The truck has a small menu with only a farm burger, farm veggie burger and either a pulled bbq chicken or pork sandwich.  Last week when I was at the truck for the second time, it was chicken, and since I’ve already had that, I went for the farm burger ($10).

The Katchkie Truck doesn’t offer a la carte – you can only get a meal for lunch which includes a sandwich, side dish, salad and a drink, which was fresh strawberry lemonade both times I went there. Yum!
